What is Soma®RPM?

Soma®RPM, also known as Rapid Prompting Method (RPM), is a teaching method created over 30 years ago by a parent, Soma Mukhopadhyay, to help her own autistic child. It has developed into a global, life-changing method, empowering thousands of neurodivergent learners with a means to express their:

Learning,

Reasoning,

Understanding, and

Thoughts

This is done by identifying the student’s open learning channels – visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile – at the instance of learning.

In Soma®RPM, the teacher presumes competence and intelligence. We teach age-appropriate information and give students an output method to show their understanding of what has been taught.

Soma® RPM is used to continually develop a student's skills—from manipulating the 2D letterboard to interacting with the 3D environment—so they can build environmental awareness, self-help skills, and hobbies.

Meet Pritha

Meet Pritha

Pritha is the founder of Pacific North West RPM Support, a Level 3 certified Soma® Rapid Prompting Method (RPM) practitioner, and the proud mother of a brilliant autistic teenager.

Her journey with RPM began in 2019, after attending a workshop with Ms. Soma Mukhopadhyay, the creator of RPM. What started as a way to support her son quickly evolved into a deeper calling. As her son's abilities unfolded, so did her commitment to helping other families discover the same possibility, purpose, and connection.

Pritha had the honor of training extensively under Ms. Mukhopadhyay. In 2022, she became a certified practitioner and has since worked with learners of diverse ages and profiles, both in person and online, guiding them toward meaningful growth.

Through RPM, Pritha supports individuals in developing communication, self-expression, and purposeful engagement—in a space where every voice is heard, respected, and empowered.

Pritha has been an amazing teacher for my non verbal son. Five years ago when we started our RPM journey, it seemed impossible that we would make any progress. My son was extremely distracted and had no interest in the sessions. She met him where he was and challenged him just the right amount to not push him off completely. We have come a long way with her. I look forward to continuing this journey with her.
